Some stuff you may not have known about my beloved homeland, in a six-minute nutshell.

I am so homesick right now....

I also want to add, if it ever comes up, that the terrorists who destroyed the World Trade Center on 9/11 did not--as McCain and Palin would have you believe--come via Canada. They flew directly to the United States.

I fell in love with a Molson Canadian commercial today!

"We have more square feet of awesomeness per person than any other nation on Earth!" - pure genius! ♥

Man, that is awesome! Was that a commercial shown in Germany?

No, I stumbled across it on YouTube. I haven't the slightest idea how that happened, but there you go.

Even if it were shown in Germany, I wouldn't know. I don't watch television.

I was wondering if it was YouTube....

That's probably a good thing.

Aha. I know which ad you guys are talking about. It's here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcKn5hCXVaw).

Also, that was an interesting spot in your post, and must be the one one of my American friends was talking about a little while ago. My question to her, on hearing about it was, "So, how much of what he said did you already know?" ^_~

That too, yeah, but the one I fell for was called "Made by Canada" or something like that. It had very dramatic background music.

Well, after living in the US for eight years, I'd say pretty much nothing, unfortunately. No fault of hers; they just don't teach about other countries down here, at least not in the general curriculum.

I look forward to checking out that advert! Thanks! :D Love your icon, too. ;->

Oh, no, I know that. The friend I'm thinking of, though, has had a good, er, nine years of continual explanation of Canada and Canadians to build on, because she has to listen to me. ^_~ But yeah, it's a shame how insular the education system is down there. (I work with exclusively US textbooks at my job, and... ugh. Even simple assignments designed to teach things like proper pronoun usage are framed as lessons in US history.)

Thanks! The quote's something Rick Mercer said a couple years ago. *G* (Love your icon too, btw.)

Thanks. :) I didn't make it, though. It comes from [livejournal.com profile] moira_faeii, using Threadless designs, apparently.

Since your friend has had you to help her, hopefully she knew all of it.... :)

I love Rick Mercer. :D

Love Canada! Gary and I have visited many times. We just live around the corner (well, sort of opposite on the other side of Lake Ontario in Rochester) from Toronto and have taken off for a spur-of-the-moment weekend there too many times to count. Kingston, Ottawa, Montreal, the Canadian Rockies, and numerous small towns have been skiing and motorcycling destinations over the years.

I hope one day to feel well enough to visit again. :-D

McCain/Palin (HA WHAT A HIDEOUSLY PERFECT SLASH OF ICK that would be) said that? God, I'm even more disgusted by them now, and I didn't think that was possible.
