Yeah, so, if everyone's saying you need to get the flu shot? Don't wait until January to do it. Because chances are it'll be too late by then. Like it was with me! It turns out that my poor little boy had already caught the flu a few days before we got the vaccine, and my husband and I caught it from him. Which was well-deserved, considering how much we suck as parents for not getting him the vaccine earlier.

Having the flu sucks, by the way. In case any of you were wondering. ::whines::

Don't let this happen to you, kids! Get the flu vaccine!

I waited too late this year myself: got the vaccine and then the flu a week later. I do think it shortened the course of illness though, which helped, as I was trying to take my first va-cay in over a decade!

Once bitten, twice shy: I have been maniacal about flu vaccines for everyone since son #1 had H1N1 and I didn't leave the house for more than twenty minutes at a time for four days. Can't even contemplate all of us being sick at once.

I've learned my lesson too, believe me--nothing like seeing your son miserable and sick to make sure you never forget another vaccine, eh?

Oh, so sorry to hear that! I got my flu shot back August. (Yep, my doc was offering it already!) I agree, the shot is much easier than having the flu.

Thank you. We are feeling better, which is awesome, though Javier got an ear infection so now he's on meds recovering from that. :( But he's a lot happier than he was even yesterday, which is great. He's bored so he's being very annoying however, which is not great...

August sounds like a great time to get the flu shot! I'll see if I can do that for my family before next flu season.

Thank you. :) ::Returns hugs:: I just wish I hadn't been so freaking dumb about it and worked harder to keep it in mind! My poor little guy got an ear infection as a result, so he's still recovering even though the flu is gone. Luckily we got him meds so he's way better than he was even yesterday.

But yes, don't do what I did! And I won't be so cavalier next flu season, believe me.

I just dealt myself a few days ago, after meaning to get around to it for months, and I vaguely thought about posting that ow because that was the most painful shot I've had a long while, for some reason. But even an entire night of an achy arm beats the flu, so I'll take it ....

I'm glad you got the shot, even if it hurt! We were very lucky in that the place where we got ours was using some completely new type of ultra-sharp needles (made in Germany, where apparently they rock at this stuff), and we barely felt it at all. Maybe the person who vaccinated you punched through a vein or something. That hurts like a bitch.
