Okay, this is why I don't watch 24
The hero Jack Bauer is giving one of his cohorts--Bill, I think--a pep talk so he can go torture somebody.
Apparently, not actually being willing to shock someone with so much electricity that they bleed from the ears and are at risk of being paralyzed is not only weak, but un-American.
Um.
Things that make me wish I still had my own study, instead of the house having a guest room. (By which I mean that I had somewhere else I could hide when my darling husband watches shows like this, instead of the bedroom.)

I really have no idea why my husband likes this stuff, but he likes graphic horror movies too. He's also one of the gentlest human beings I've ever met. Go figure.
Okay, since he's sitting over on the couch I just asked him. He said he enjoyed it a lot more in the early seasons when it was still innovative and he wanted to watch each week to find out how Bauer could possibly survive. Now he finds the plots so ridiculous that he doesn't enjoy it nearly as much, but he's still curious enough to tune in every week.
Oh--I edited this to add that I asked him about the violence and torture, and he shrugged and said, 'I know it's just television'.
