Die, you misbegotten demon-spawn of corporate greed! Die, and we shall dance on your grave!

Apparently SOPA and PIPA are not as dead as I thought. BOO.

I realize this is only important for the US, but BOO-YAH!

SOPA Shelved After Veto Threat | The Mary Sue

::High-fives everyone who emailed or called their congressperson::

Of course, this doesn't guarantee that Stop Online Piracy Act (or it's bastard child, PIPA--Protect IP Act) won't rear their ugly, ugly heads again (especially if Obama loses the next election), but right now this is a great blow for freedom of expression in the US, and I am one very happy camper.

Oh, that doesn't sound good! Can anything be done about it?

We've been fighting it for almost 10 years, through a Coalition (Right Wing) government and a Labor (Center-right Wing) replacement with an Opus Dei Theofascist communications minister.

It won't die.

That sucks. I hope your next government is a little more left of centre.

Labor is the Left Wing party, replaced the Coalition (now known in opposition as the No-alition), and the Filter (block everything "illegal" at ISP level) survived the change of government.

When the biggest ISPs pointed out it was utterly unworkable, possibly unconstitutional and clearly insane, the government imposed a national single broadband service, the NBN so it could impose the filter above the ISP level...

Wow. And I here I was thinking that Australia would be immune to that kind of control. Sorry you have to go through that.
